Director of Education, Young Audiences of Louisiana

Renee Benson is the Director of Education at YALA, a YA Credentialed Teaching Artist, a singer and composer. She has performed in Germany, Austria, Turkey, UK, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Holland, Denmark and Romania (Glastonbury Music Festival and Eurovision). Currently, she is working on an experimental jazz opera in Austria and in residence at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans.

She served as faculty at Banff Centre of the Arts for the Indigenous Arts, freelanced as the hip hop educational consultant for the Hamilton Education Program with The Gilder Lehrman Institute and facilitates workshops with The Kennedy Center.
